Here's a Collection of Honey Birds (Hummingbirds) What You Should Know

Hummingbirds are included in the hummingbird family. While the Honey Bird is included into the sunbird family. So, although it has some similarities, such as size and style, but the two birds are very different. Many people consider Bird Honey as a hummingbird and of course the assumption is wrong.

Hummingbirds mostly live in North America and South America, have a sparkling feather that can reflect the color of light so it looks very beautiful like there is oil on the fur.

As has been said before that Bird Honey belongs to the family of nectariniidae of genus nectarinia. This bird is very fond of nectar, mengkudu, papaya, small insects and dadap. In Indonesia, known at least 4 species of Honey Birds adapted to their habitat are, Honey Bird, Coconut Honey, Honey Mangrove Bird and Siganti Honey Bird. However, there are some other honey birds that are also known by the breeders. This bird loves places like yard, beach and mangrove forest (mangroves).

Characteristics of Bird Honey
Bird Honey has a body size that is not much different from the Hummingbird is about 7 to 10 cm. Its long and long beak serves to ease the sucking of honey from the flower.

This bird has little difference between females and males. The male bird has a bright yellow lower body, with a purple-black chin and chest and has olive green back feathers.

While the female birds lower body yellow and there is no black on the chin or chest.

Type of Bird Honey

A. Bird Honey Sriganti
Honey Bird Sriganti has Latin name nectarinia. This bird is very fond of living in the bushes and often looking for food in papaya trees and mangrove forest forests. Preferred foods include small insects, spiders and nectar.

B. Bird of Mangrove Mangrove
Bird Madu Mangrove has latin name leptocoma calcostetha. Called Honey Mangrove Birds because his life is spent in mangrove forests and coastal edge and often also come to the coconut trees.

C. Bird Honey Wulung
This bird has the Latin name anthreptes singalensis. His life is spent heavily on the edge of the forest, coconut groves and often also seen in pine trees. This bird loves honey from flowers and loves small fruits as well as insects and caterpillars.

D. Bird Honey Mountain
As the name implies, this Honey Bird is often seen in the forest, on the edge of the forest, and at, the foot of the mountain. Latin name is aethopyga eximia.

E. Bird of Java Honey
Honey Birds Java live in bushes and often also come to parasites. This bird loves nectar, seeds and small animals like spiders and insects.

F. Bird of Coconut Honey
Often found in the yard and especially in the coconut groves. This bird is very fond of coconut flower extracts besides nectar, spider and caterpillar.
The coconut honey bird has the Latin name anthereptes malacensis.

G. Bird of Honey Tasik
Honey Tasik bird is a Honey Bird originating from West Java, often living on the edge of the forest, in open places, including bushes and plantations. This bird loves you fruits, insects, and grains, including nectar.
Tasik Honey Bird has the Latin name leptocoma sperata.

H. Bird Honey Sepah Raja
His life spent much on the plantation, often also seen in the forest is very fond of nectar and various types of insects. The Latin name of the Bird of Honey Sepah Raja is aethopyga siparaja.
